Brand Design.
Branding. Something that can really make or break you. This was my first time designing a logo for a county’s brand. To give you a little background as to why I was asked to create something new and refreshing for Palo Pinto is the same reason majority of brands conduct a “rebrand.” It’s simply because they wanted something new and refreshing.
Their logo before was not bad, but it did not look up with the times. I did not want to completely change their logo, but make it look like it was a brand from 2022 not the early 2000s. In their original logo, they had hills with a little water and of course their name with “ON TOUR” below. I kept the hills, just updated them, changed the font, and kept the vision of the water by utilizing three lines on each side of the word, “county.” Fonts such as Bright Retro and a complimentary font which is easy to read, Lato. It’s fun, it’s fresh, and it’s not overwhelming to the eye.
The colors chosen for this project were earthy tones. They originally had quite a few earthy tones before such as brown, green, and black. I wanted to freshen up the colors due to brown and black almost casting a dark, negative feel on the reader. Their event is surrounding different historical spots in the area, so I thought different hues of green and blue would work great together. The colors keep the earthy feel they originally had. Sometimes rebranding doesn’t have to scrap everything that was created before. Sometimes it can act as a foundation or base for what you hope to create in the future. You can find the most inspiration from within.
All in all this project was so fun to create and explore more about Palo Pinto County. We still have more to create with this lovely place such as an informational booklet and posters.
Stay tuned for more design details on my project! I appreciate you taking the time to read my blog and visiting my site. Even if I just have one reader, I hope that you can find inspiration and know that this business can be taxing, but you are not alone. We all face creative block and feel like we are getting overlooked, but keep being creative and do this for YOU! You got it!
With love,
SB
